What is ICD-10-CM?

ICD-10-CM is the standard diagnostic classification system used by healthcare providers, medical coders, and insurance companies in the United States. It contains over 70,000 codes covering diseases, injuries, symptoms, and other health conditions. The system is maintained by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS).

All ICD-10-CM code data on this site is sourced from the official code files published by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) at cms.gov. These files are in the public domain.

Update Schedule

CMS updates ICD-10-CM codes twice per year:

• October 1 — Annual update (Fiscal Year start)
• April 1 — Mid-year update (if applicable)

We aim to update this site within 2 weeks of each CMS release.
